Introducing, the Queer Media Club
Brought to you by Tony’s Place in collaboration with The Harris County Public Library, the Queer Media Club was developed to be for everyone! Queer visibility and representation in all forms of media is important, and we probably all have parts of ourselves that we understood better thanks to a book, a movie, a song, a comic book, etc. etc. - so we want to talk about all of them!
When we say queer, we mean all of us.
Whether you’re gay, bi, trans, ace, questioning, or nowhere near picking a label, you belong here. People weren’t meant to fit in tidy little boxes so let's let our identities be as wild and messy as we want them to be.
What assignment? You already did it!
There's no assigned reading, watching, or listening - we want you to bring in something you already love! We'll announce a new theme every month (and even offer some relevant staff picks!) but if the theme doesn't resonate with you, it's not a requirement - come hang out anyway and share what you're getting into! You never know where the conversations will go.
Is it "media" if it's....
Yes! Movie, book, TV show, podcast, zine, play, song, magazine, article - whatever comes to mind for the theme, whatever is relevant to you, WHATEVER you want to reference to add to the conversation, it's all you!
