Feral Reads
🔥 Feral Reads: The Reading Revolution Is Here 🔥
Calling all LGBTQ+ youth ages 14 to 25: Feral Reads is not your polite little book club. It’s loud, it’s mobile, and it’s unapologetically queer. Brought to you by Tony’s Place, this traveling book club is tearing through Houston one radical read at a time.
Each month, we take over a new space: a bookstore, a coffee shop, a library, or wherever we’re welcome and invite queer youth to gather, get real, and talk about books that speak truth to power. We’re reading the bold, the banned, and the beautifully unfiltered.
And when we say queer, we mean all of us.
Whether you’re gay, bi, trans, ace, questioning, or nowhere near picking a label, you belong here. People weren’t meant to fit in tidy little boxes. Let’s leave checklists to grocery stores and let our identities be as wild and messy as we want them to be.
Didn’t read the book this month? Come anyway!
Let’s be honest: we’ve all faked a book report before. Whether you skimmed the first chapter, watched the movie, or took notes in the margins like you’re writing your thesis, you’re welcome. This is about community, not completion.
Feral Reads is about showing up, sounding off, and finding power in our stories. No rules, no rubrics, no respectability required. Just real talk, radical books, and queer youth taking up space together.
We’re not just flipping pages. We’re flipping the whole script!
Come get feral with us!
Our very first Feral Reads meetup is happening May 26th from 6:00 to 7:30 PM at Brazos Bookstore
📍 2421 Bissonnet St, Houston, TX 77005
Hot off the heels of Fiesta San Antonio, we’re diving into Canto Contigo by Johnny Garza Villa, a tender Tejano love story built around tradition, mariachi culture, and the rich Latine heritage of San Antonio, Texas. This beautifully queer novel celebrates first love, chosen family, and the music that carries memory across generations.
